Dye penetrant testing of precision cast trays
The picture shows the PT testing of the hot work fixture grate, which is manufactured using precision casting technology. Casting defects are prone to occur at the connection points of the grate. We conducted a 100% dye penetration test on the precision cast grate to detect defects and promptly repair or scrap the workpiece, effectively controlling product quality.
The basic principle of dye penetrant testing is to use capillary phenomenon to allow the penetrant to penetrate into the defect. After cleaning, residual penetrant is left on the surface. The penetrant residue in the defect is then adsorbed by the capillary action of the imaging agent to achieve the purpose of defect inspection.
